That is true, beware for those who are going to enroll in UOM because its no more an Education institution but a Money Maker institution which find lot of ways to remove money from many student. example you must pay a fine for late registration or de-registration, pay for exemption of exam paper, pay a penalty which is 2 times your yearly course fees + your course fees again if you repeat a whole year.

Most of the infrastructure are in bad conditions. Lots of bad services and bad communication. when you have a problem and asked for an information, they don't know the answer, its like they are playing soccer and you are the ball who go in all directions before you could reach someone to get the proper information and even the last person that you could reach don't know exactly what to reply you.

concerning quality of teaching for lecturers, its average because some lecturers are very lazy and the worst thing is that they consider teaching at UOM is like a part time job and they have more important job to do for other company.

Moreover, i have heard that there are also big discrimination at UOM that for some modules you should have " MET JUPE" so that you can pass and you can even get an A+. or you can get the answer for the exams question just one day before exam at a special site which the lecturer told you to enroll.

The worst thing that i have heard that even in the examination section they do discrimination when they put the result for student. A group of students have failed there course work which therefore, they should have automatically fail for this particular module according to some rule of UOM, but fortunately for some students of this group who have passed the module while others should do this module a whole year again. May be these fortunate students have relative who work in the examination section or have good "backing".

good luck for those who are going to take courses at University of Mauritius

I just want to start by saying Im not related to UOM in any way.

For me, doing an MBA course is not about reading from books and then going for exams. If that is what most people think about doing an MBA, then I really pity them.

MBA is about gaining industry knowledge and interacting with the great thinkers in the field. Its about developing a new mindset and paradigm. This can only be achieved via interaction not only with your classmates but also the lecturers and so on...

Just remember, doing an MBA just for getting the degree is not worth it and a complete waste of money.

Well post grad isn't about exams! if you think so, you're missing the whole point of doing your MBA. We're not talking degree level (even there, being exam oriented can be bad for your professional life).

On the other hand, MBA students are usually employed full-time (97% of my class) and obviously, most of them are in the private sector with long working hours. It's not practical to expect that level of attendance. If they can manage to complete their MBA as expected without that level of attendance, it's good for them and the uni.

I am also doing my MBA at at another university in mauritius, i am a working student same as all my class mate. this semester i didnt go to any of the lecture because of the november-december bottle neck at office. but i just attended the class tests.
ensure that the level of the postgrad does not become cheap and that without it, attendance would be so low that it’d be havoc to manage or lecture…
this is just a b**shit for a post graduate course. if the student can study by himself and be present in the exam as due why should he attend the class?

if he can pass the exam without being in the class there is no need for him to be in ...

Well some people say that the 80% attendance is to ensure that the level of the postgrad does not become cheap and that without it, attendance would be so low that it'd be havoc to manage or lecture...
