Do Voters Get the Government They Deserve? Inconsistency of Arguments by Current Parties
There is a saying that I heard earlier, “A country has the government that it deserves.” Some people say that it’ s because of the attitude of the voters. I so far refused to agree with this. But today, I’ m not sure anymore. With the ousting of Rama Sithanen recently, I’m not sure which party to vote. After all, he was someone who worked well for the country. The common person will say ‘he was replaced by Pillay’ but that’s for an election. Such a communal answer… And yes, that seems to be the reality for many people here…
So we do work well together, no matter what the religion is. We live together, I have good friends from other religions. I understand the other communities pretty well I can say. Even the political parties have people from all communities (not to say religion!), so why are people not realising that they are after all promoting union when voting?
Let’ s criticise the parties now. Just today one from MMM was saying that the previous party put the country ‘a genou.’ Come on, grow up and read about your country before saying that. Not just newspapers, but also magazine, go around, ask companies that really run the island. National debt ratio is lower than some European countries. We’ve benefitted a lot from the previous government. They might criticize PTr but the moment they said that, I knew they’ re bluffing.
PTr alliance is also showing that popularity and image is more important than people who work. And the ladies, why are they all in places where MMM is strong?! The language used by Berenger is wrong as it sounds insulting to women, but isn’ t he right to some extent? Ah that’ s another person who is inconsistent. Just a few months ago he could barely speak well in public. So many times has he been seen on MBC without arguments, stuttering… And now? Dopé? Pravind Jugnauth still sounds like daddy’s son. He barely has any argument to say and does not have the charisma of a leader! Only Navin Ramgoolam currently stands high and looks confident enough to win.
In the end then, there’s one person I’ m sure is being elected from my region. After all, he’s always been elected here, Anil Baichoo. Let’s say he takes care of his region, like a good politician. I think that’ s a factor that people consider. What their ministers do for them comes before the greater good of Mauritius.
So which party will I vote? I’m still not sure.

Berenger can’t be taken serious anymore. He is now the “bouffon du roi”, I said it before. He is training this team members to act as lowly too. It is so unfortunate and a shame that his meetings are only about laughing at people, not about the work which has/is/will have to be done.
Another post coming up soon on my behalf too, lol. Already wrote it but did not find any pics yet. Cheers

My friend, the MBC is a communication tool in the hands of the Labour party. Please go to the MMM Youtube channel to see Paul’s interventions and press releases without biased editing. http://youtube.com/user/MilitantMMM
@yashvin
There are many propositions from the MMM. Do not trust the MBC but also read press releases from the MMM in the INDEPENDENT press e.g. lexpress.
@Bruno : LOL! You call l’express an independent press? haha, that’s the best joke of the day
MBC is not the only one one showing those speeches. Even private radio like Radio Plus and Top FM broadcast the same speeches. What will you say? Do not listen to them either? Or perhaps should I switch to an ‘independent’ radio, like Radio One? lol
Radio Plus is owned by Le Defi Media group, owned (or partly owned) by BAI, owned (or partly owned) by Beebeejaun (and family … not community but real blood-linked family) So Radio Plus is not independent. Top FM awarded Navin Ramgoolam the personality of the year award in many occasions …
So? Do you mean that only l’express or Radio one can be referred as ‘independent’?
No, Le Mauricien aussi.
Le Matinal? Weekend? etc etc?
Ok …
Pro MMM: Week End
Pro PTr: Le Matinal, Le Defi Media (Defi, Radio +), Mauritius Times, Top FM
Independent: La Sentinelle (L’express, Radio One, L’express Dimanche), Le Mauricien
Meme pas Le Mauricien. La plupart biased aster. Sauf LA Sentinelle Group.
Thanks for the insight Bruno. I didn’t know Defi is indirectly owned by BAI. That said, Defi Plus has always been a zournal palab along with 5-Plus… Top FM awarding to the PM was indeed suspicious. On the other hand, there are a lot of people who venerate our PM in the rural areas, or so I heard.
I think I’ll watch the MMM video on YouTube before making my decision.
LExpress, yes I agree. It’s the newspaper I prefer. Been a while since I read Le Mauricien (Weekend).
