Honda Fit 1.3 More Economical than Toyota Vitz 1.0
A friend was asking me the economy of the Honda Fit/Jazz. I remembered that I read about Fit being more economical than the March/Micra and Vitz despite having a bigger 1.3 engine. I decided to confirm it from their respective websites. read more

What makes a good political leader in Mauritius!
I’m rather fed up of listening to the small parties leaders for the oncoming general election. I mean, I said, let’s check out if there’s some party worth voting apart from the 2 big alliances. FSM, MDN, MAM etc… There’s one thing I simply can’t digest is the lack of on-screen skills by their leaders. I mean come, on it’s not hard, you just need these:
- La gueule! basically, that’s the ability to talk good of your party and your values no matter. Leaders should be able to answer questions askd to them, comment on their feelings of the day, of their vision with absolute confidence. Stuttering is like saying, ‘don’t vote me, I’m not good enough’ read more

National Transport Authority – Why do they keep changing the bus stop for 222 Rempart?
There are two bus stops at Reduit, buses divided according to the bus routes. How they allocated is mystery, some say it’ s based on the region… About a month ago, they switched the bus stop for 222 Rempart-Rose Hill.
One/two week after they changed it again. And then again. Why? What about speed limits where not needed, and no-entries where not needed? And now we hear that they’ re working half day in administration since they have to work for elections?

Do Voters Get the Government They Deserve? Inconsistency of Arguments by Current Parties
There is a saying that I heard earlier, “A country has the government that it deserves.” Some people say that it’ s because of the attitude of the voters. I so far refused to agree with this. But today, I’ m not sure anymore. With the ousting of Rama Sithanen recently, I’m not sure which party to vote. After all, he was someone who worked well for the country. The common person will say ‘he was replaced by Pillay’ but that’s for an election. Such a communal answer… And yes, that seems to be the reality for many people here…
So we do work well together, no matter what the religion is. We live together, I have good friends from other religions. I understand the other communities pretty well I can say. Even the political parties have people from all communities (not to say religion!), so why are people not realising that they are after all promoting union when voting? read more

Youngsters Should Vote and Even Form Parties – General Elections 2010
So many educated young people (I mean under 35) tell me that they don’t vote. The reasons they say is that politicians are all corrupt and useless to vote for any party. But I say isn’t it your duty to choose what politician the country will have? What if just 50,000 voting youngsters think that way?
How about focusing those youngsters into creating a new party, a youngsters party, all around Mauritius. Some people pose as independent candidates. It’s definitely not to win! You need to be in a group to make big changes to the country. Ignore the fact that our Asian culture trains us to think the old people make better leaders. If only one person gets voted in the fictitious ‘Youngsters Revolution’ party (lol), it’ll be a success, cause it’ll encourage more young people to vote, and do come out to do something. The point is that if all the non-voters vote for the same one new party, that party will gain some power in front of the other parties.
You’ll say politics are dirty… it’s just perception. To some politics is a business, mean power, mean social work and more. Who made politics dirty? Who said that the governing politicians are meant to be bad?!
There is a saying however, ‘absolute power corrupts absolutely.’ And one from Spiderman, ‘with great power comes great responsibility.’

Modded NFS Most Wanted Out by Fans!
I have been a long time Need for Speed fan since Need for Speed II in about 1998. I played all versions since then.. and loved the freedom in the city since NFS Underground. Recently there was a switchover from Arcade to Simulation with NFS Shift. It meant better different controls. You couldn’t just turn traction control off and behave like you did in the previous versions. But was absolutely gorgeous to look at, even at minimum settings… read more

Automatics vs Manual – How CVT Automatic is More Economical Than Manual
People in Mauritius have for long said that automatic gearbox is slower, heavier and drinks a lot of fuel. This is changing now and people need to learn about the new types of automatics. For many girls, the comfort given by the automatic takes over the fact that they use more fuel but that’s changed now with more economical CVT gearbox – all hybrid vehicles have them, and you bet, they’re better than manual!
Let’s start by listing the different types of gearboxes available: read more

The ideal education system for Mauritius – primary, middle, sc+hsc high school
Being good at studies and having attended a star school I might have seen the current education system to be most appropriate to me. I did my CPE, ranked good, went to secondary school… still unsure what I’d become… I did science because it led to more openings according to my parents. I almost did medicine, and corrected myself at the last minute to do something I really love – computers…
Wait, what did I actually learn at primary school? Maths and languages… Does it mean that the (nearly) half who fail CPE aren’t worth going to college? Not everyone is good at math and languages (I’m omitting EVS – now as art, and a few more)…

Mare D’Australia – Trottoir lor Trottoir!
Driving around Brisée Verdière, near Mare d’Australia, a few weeks ago, there were workers building pavement on both side of the road. Wait. there already are pavement! in decent condition! The workers were building another pavement on top of the old one… Waste of money!
Means my tax money’s going there! Instead of being well-spent on necessary things, like proper protection from flood in that same village! To top it, road that’s already in good condition at Brisée Verdière has been rendered again! In Belvedere there’s even 2 levels of tar on each lane…
Doesn’t anyone notice that apart from me and my friends?

NTC Stops Route 176 Port Louis-Flacq, What About 222 Rose Hill-Rempart?
NTC has just stopped offering the Port Louis -Depinay – Lallmatie – Flacq 176 route. I hear people say that it was not profitable. So ‘bus individuel’ are not taking that route in the morning. I can understand that with so many buses in the Flacq-Port Louis route. Now I hear talks that they’re saying that 222 Rempart-Laventure/Petite Retraite-Lallmatie-Quartier Militaire-Reduit-Rose Hill might also be stopped for the same reason. As if it’s not profitable.
According to my research on Google, they put only 9 buses on the 222 route and 10 in the 226 (Rempart-Curepipe) as per a couple of years ago. Imagine with all the crowd waiting and rushing to get buses in the morning. They could easily have put an extra 3 buses from 6-8 am and from 3-5 pm. But no, you have to rush, the conductor will stop you cause the buses go FULL during that time with standing. read more
